The reservations for Tesla's 'Cybertruck' reached the 2,00,000 mark within three days of its unveiling, CEO Elon Musk said. The all-electric truck has a starting price of $39,900 and a refundable pre-order fee of $100. At the unveiling, Cybertruck's "shatterproof" armoured glass windows had shattered after the company's design chief hurled a metal ball at them to prove their durability.

Elon Musk has accepted Ford VP Sunny Madra's challenge for a tow battle between Tesla's Cybertruck and Ford's F-150, saying, "Bring it on." Madra had tweeted, "Send us a Cybertruck and we'll do the apples to apples test for you." Musk earlier posted a video of the all-electric truck defeating F-150 in a tug of war, which many called "unfair".

Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj has said that creation of electric vehicle (EV) demand is the job of automotive manufacturers and not the government. He added, "We shouldn't get caught in this vicious cycle of chicken-and-egg where we say whether EVs should come first or charging stations." Japanese automaker Nissan has recalled nearly 4,00,000 cars in the US over concerns of a fire hazard. Nissan said a braking system defect could leak brake fluid into the internal circuit boards and may, in "rare instances", lead to a fire if leak warnings sent to drivers are ignored. No such incident with its cars has been reported so far.

California-based startup Karma Automotive unveiled its hinge-winged all-electric concept car 'SC2', that can deliver 1,110-horsepower and go from 0 to nearly 100 kmph in 1.9 seconds. SC2's twin electric motors deliver 800 kW of peak power, with over 14200-Nm wheel torque and about 565-km electric range, Karma said. Tata Group has reportedly approached carmakers including China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and BMW as it seeks partnerships for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). The deliberations were at an early stage and Tata could still approach other potential partners, reports said.
