Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut on Friday said Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai is forming an alliance with Shiv Sena. "A new political front is taking shape in Goa, just like it happened in Maharashtra. Soon you'll get to see a miracle in Goa," he added. Raut further said that they want to make a "non-BJP political front" in India.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Friday demanded to move privilege motion against Congress' Rahul Gandhi for calling BJP leader Pragya Singh Thakur a 'terrorist'. "Calling a woman terrorist is worse than the murder of Mahatma Gandhi," said Dubey. Earlier today, Thakur apologised in the Lok Sabha over her 'Godse deshbhakt' remark but added that her statements are being distorted.

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition challenging the Maharashtra post-poll alliance between Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The Court said that it expected political parties to abide by their promises, but if they don't, Court "cannot do anything about it". The plea was filed by Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha spokesperson Pramod Pandit Joshi.

Ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah during an election rally asked people to "give one more chance to BJP" and claimed to make Jharkhand the "number one state in the country". Shah further said that the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government had created Jharkhand (in 2000) and the Narendra Modi government is taking it forward.

During the polling in the first phase of Jharkhand elections on Saturday, Congress candidate KN Tripathi was seen brandishing a pistol at a polling booth in Daltonganj assembly constituency after a clash with BJP supporters. According to reports, BJP candidate Alok Chaurasiya's supporters had allegedly prevented Tripathi from entering the polling booth and had pelted stones at his convoy.

A culvert on Gumla-Lohardaga border was blown up reportedly by Maoists on Saturday, soon after voting began in first phase of polls in Jharkhand. However, no casualty was reported and election officials claimed the incident didn't affect poll process. Gumla deputy commissioner said, "There was a polling station in the area but it had been relocated to a safer area."

Congress' Shakuntla Khatik and seven others were on Saturday sentenced to three years in jail by a Bhopal court for threatening to set fire to a police station in 2017. Khatik and her associates were convicted of assaulting the police station in-charge and his colleagues. The incident took place following police firing on protesting farmers in Mandsaur two years ago.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that the Centre will implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) across all states of the country. Singh was addressing a public rally in Bokaro, Jharkhand, where state Assembly elections are underway in five phases. "Every Indian has a right to know who are the illegal immigrants in their land," said Rajnath Singh.

After Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray took oath as the CM of Maharashtra, the party in its mouthpiece Saamana said, "BJP-Shiv Sena are sharing strained relations in Maharashtra politics, but (PM Narendra) Modi and (Uddhav) Thackeray share brotherly ties." Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury while speaking on the National Register of Citizens (NRC) on Sunday said that PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are infiltrators. Chowdhury said, "Their home is in Gujarat but they have come to Delhi. They are migrants, legal or illegal, that will be known afterwards." He added 'Hindustan' is not anyone's personal property.

During his speech after Devendra Fadnavis was named the new Leader of Opposition by the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker, CM Uddhav Thackeray said, "I never said I will come back, but I came in this House." Thackeray, who seemingly took a jibe at Fadnavis' "I will return" statement ahead of the polls, added, "I will not do anything at midnight."

This comes after Pragya referred Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse as 'deskbhakt'. Post her remark, BJP on Thursday announced to remove her from Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Defence.

The BJP has withdrawn the candidature of its nominee Kisan Kathore for the post of Maharashtra Assembly Speaker, leaving Congress' Nana Patole as the sole candidate in the race. Senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil stated, "After incumbents' request, we have decided to withdraw Kathore's candidature." Meanwhile, Patole is expected to be elected unopposed once the Assembly session starts.

Pro-tem Speaker Dilip Walse Patil informed the House that four MLAs abstained during the vote. They include two from the Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM, one from CPI(M) and a member of MNS, led by Uddhav’s estranged cousin Raj Thackeray.

Thirteen constituencies in six districts of Jharkhand on Saturday went to Assembly polls in the first phase. A total of 189 candidates are contesting in the first phase. The Jharkhand elections are scheduled to be held in five phases, with the final phase taking place on December 20, and the results will be announced on December 23.

With the support of 169 MLAs, the Uddhav Thackeray-led government on Saturday won the floor test in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly. The Shiv Sena chief was sworn-in as Chief Minister of the state earlier this week after he was named as the leader of the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance. He is the first Thackeray family member to become Maharashtra's CM.
